I´m the manager of my division so I made the request directly. There's no policy in my company regarding external storage, there are no blockers like waterwall or encription programs and USB drives are allowed. Thanks for the reply Ralston, however, my question was not intended to find a way to circumvent passwords. Thanks for the assist and sorry for long post. I can´t wait for days to retrieve information i require upon minutes, and obviously IT won´t elevate my rights nor come to my desk everytime I need to log into My passport.Īfter reading several forums, I realize this has been an issue with WD for years, but I was wondering if anything new or a solution has been found to use the WD unlocker on standard user accounts? Most information I've read is a couple years old. Next day of work when I connect my drive, it requests administrator rights to run WD Unlocker AGAIN! I unlocked my drive and activated auto unlock and everthing seemed to work fine until I unplugged my drive. The thing is, after waiting for 1 week IT finally came to the rescue and granted me access to my passport. On my first day there My passport asks me for Administrator rights to run WD unlocker.

My new company's laptop has standard user rights. I own a passport in which I store my day to day tools (mostly advanced spread sheets).
